These topics are intimately linked to MNEs’ international trade and investment activities, which in turn, are significantly influenced by the diverse political environments within which companies operate. The course attempts to systematically develop each of these major subject areas, and to show the interconnections among them. Within each topic, our coverage will be historical in scope, yet the course will also emphasize current trends and theoretical contributions. Finally, empirical studies that employ these theories will be reviewed to further enhance our understanding. |

International Business |
Elective Major |
3-3-0 |
|
INT827 seeks to critically examine academic research literature on international business (IB). Specifically, we shall primarily focus on the strategies, organizational structures, and operations of multinational enterprises (MNEs), which constitute our major unit of analysis. Our purpose is to gain an in-depth understanding of the cumulative knowledge of select aspects of IB. |

Consumer Decision Theory |
Elective Major |

|
This course is designed to familiarize you with a wide variety of issues related to managerial and consumer judgment and decision making. Given the emphasis of the course on behavioral decision theory, the topics covered pertain mainly to descriptive rather than normative aspects of decision making. In addition to providing you with basic knowledge on behavioral decision theory, this course has three additional goals. First, it should acquaint you with empirical methods that researchers in this field use to test their theories (Although decision-making researchers employ diverse methods, our emphasis will be on experimental methods). Second, this course will provide you with an opportunity to develop your own research ideas - ideas you may wish to pursue in your remaining time in this program or in your future years as an academic. It is hoped that as your basic knowledge grows, your ability to generate interesting questions about consumer decision making will increase accordingly. Third, it also aims to train you in skills that are necessary in a successful academic career ? presentation, critique, synthesis and journal reviewing. |

GLOBAL CORPORATE GOVERNANCE SEMINAR |
Elective Major |

Most, of the productive capacity of the global economy is owned within the corporate form. How do those who supply risk capital to these enterprises (and others who make investments in them) receive reasonable assurance that the enterprises in which their savings are invested will be operated soundly? Currently, finance fields shed lights on corporate governance to minimize the agency cost in the firm. This course will provide materials to enable students to fashion answers to these and related questions. While we will acknowledge the ways in which markets themselves provide certain assurances to investors, we will also focus on internal mechanisms and legal infrastructure. |

Asset Pricing 1: Theory |
Elective Major |
3-3-0 |
|
In asset pricing theory, one understands how the prices of risky assets (or equivalently speaking, claims to uncertain payment) are determined in equilibrium. Put differently, the mechanical relationship between prices and returns implies that the theory aims to explain why some assets pay higher returns than others. The practical virtue of the asset pricing theory mainly comes from our normative beliefs that risky assets should be priced in the way theorized in the asset pricing model. If some assets are inconsistent with a model's prediction, we can claim that the assets are mis-priced and may provide arbitrage opportunities for (sophisticated) investors to make abnormal returns. This makes the asset pricing theory very appealing to academicians as well as practitioners. |

The objective of the course is to provide students with a working knowledge of derivative contracts, valuation, and risk management. The course begins by providing a description of derivative markets and why they exist. The focus then turns to valuation of derivatives such as forwards and futures, swaps, and options. With the tools of valuation and risk measurement in hand, the focus then turns to a variety of actual valuation and risk management problems faced by individuals, firms, institutions, and governments. Included among them are hedging commodity price risks, valuing employee stock options, creating passive and dynamic portfolio insurance, structuring protected equity notes, managing interest rate risk exposures, swapping fixed for floating interest rate payments, and managing currency risk exposures. |

Market Microstructure: Theory and Practice |
Elective Major |
3-3-0 |
|
Market microstructure is the burgeoning branch of financial economics, which investigates trading and the organization of markets. This field of study has substantially grown in size and importance since the October 1987 stock market crash, since at that time people came to recognize that observable prices stay significantly different from intrinsic values (that are unobservable) for a prolonged period and various trading protocols accelerate the notable deviation. In general, the market microstructure studies are concerned of (a) how security markets work, (b) how stock exchanges regulate the markets, (c) how prices come to reflect information about fundamental values, (d) who makes markets liquid and (e) how various trading rules affect price efficiency, liquidity and trading profits.
Among those interesting topics, this seminar course particularly focuses on understanding how a limit order market (LOM) like the Korean Stock Exchange functions. One important characteristic of the LOM is that traders can decide whether to supply liquidity with limit orders or consume it with market orders. During this semester, therefore, we will concentrate on explaining the trader’s problem of order submission choice between limit and market orders. The focus is on empirical work, but some theory will be reviewed. |

|
INT827 seeks to critically examine academic research literature on international business (IB). Specifically, we shall primarily focus on the strategies, organizational structures, and operations of multinational enterprises (MNEs), which constitute our major unit of analysis. Our purpose is to gain an in-depth understanding of the cumulative knowledge of select aspects of IB. |

3-3-0 |
|
This is an intermediate course in investment and computational asset pricing
theory at the graduate level. This course will primarily focus on how we
should determine ‘fair’ prices of financial assets which generate risky cash
flows in future. We will start with learning static portfolio theory and discuss the
concept of ‘systematic risk’ in financial assets. Then we will derive an
equilibrium relationship between systematic risk and expected return of financial
assets. Based on the static portfolio theory, we will learn several major asset pricing
models such as CAPM and APT. Next, we will consider dynamic
consumption-savings decisions and derive the consumption-CAPM. In the later
part of the course, we will focus on derivative securities and learn several methods
to price those assets. |

|

More precisely, it improves efficiency by using information technology (IT) in a single organization's internal processes, and includes processes among stakeholders outside the organization.
Therefore, to understand E-Business accurately, it is necessary to analyze and understand the core processes of the organization and understand IT and digital technology trends and application methods. We also need to understand the mechanisms by which information technology changes organization's business processes. |
